An education system that has evolved and grown through simple changes and novel advancements over the years, the Finland Education Model is one of the best education systems in the world. Their students outrank those studying in the US and UK. Time and again they have shown that working on common sense practices and holistic learning gives out better results than always striving towards excelling in standardised tests. Following their lead, one of the top school in Sikar has also adopted the Finland Model. Euro International School has always pioneered in the field of holistic and all-round development. Keeping up with that, we have adopted the Finland Model for education. We aim to provide our students with world class education, keeping our cultural values intact.

Why a top school in Sikar has adopted the Finland Education System?

Back in 2017, when our director travelled to Finland to understand their education system, he found it was very similar to his own vision. Right from the beginning of Euro International School in Sikar, we have followed the ideology of ‘learning by doing’. The Finnish system also focuses on the holistic development of the students rather than focusing on cramming them with information.

The Finland model also focuses on having a relaxed approach towards daily regimen of the students. Their classes are spread more evenly and has longer breaks. We as an institution also believe in allowing the kids to breathe a little between classes. Students from Grade 1 to 5, have a 50-50 ratio of academic and non-academic classes.

Another reason we have taken to the Finland model is its advocacy of movement. It believes that students learn more if they are move from one location to another. In our school too, we follow the same philosophy. Our pre schoolers have the flexibility of space and sometimes even share space with others to co-learn in a healthy environment.

What’s different in our classrooms now?

The Finland model is based on honing the creativity, equity and critical thinking in students. The Finnish people have been studying the education trends for long and since 2016 have been working to reform their education system. Putting our confidence into decade long research and studies, we have made a few changes in the school as well. Our school in Sikar is one that has constantly evolved with the new age education in India.

Our classrooms are now more flexible and allow the students to learn at their pace. We have created reading corners and relaxing spaces for our students to learn and grow beyond text books. Our weekly timetable has equal distribution for academic and extra curricular classes. We have shifted our focuses on concepts rather than a checklist of chapters.

Our teachers are now facilitators not just instructors. Each child is observed greatly and our teachers develop personalised learning programs for each one of them. They identify the strengths of the students and motivate while guiding them gently through their weaknesses.

We have introduced a happiness curriculum where we focus on empathy and mindfulness to increase the EQ of our pupils. Along with access to world class education to our students, we are also keeping them grounded and closer to their roots. All these changes have brought about significant improvements and enhanced the school’s culture.

How does this affect the academics of students?

Our academic results put us on the top of the ladder among the schools in Sikar. Our students have proven their mettle time and again. Whether it is the board examinations or olympiads or national coding competitions, our students are always the top of the ladder. They are able to adapt to the ever changing education trends and keep up with the world.

Our parents have also been a pillar of strength all these years. The trust that they have put in us while we grew and adopted ways that were new to everyone. While schools in Sikar were worried about board results, we shifted our focus on skills and new age learning. Their support allowed us to create an environment where students can learn, grow into confident, curious, and compassionate individuals.
